Opening Procession
After the AIDS Quilt Ceremony was over, some 4000 participants and delegates formed a colourful procession that moved from the Company Gardens down Darling Street to the District Six Ceremony, near the Cape Technicon.
The procession was a fantastic display of all the world’s religions. People from different religions walked together with a common goal.
These youngsters in their traditional costumes showed plenty of spirit.
People from all over the world have come to Cape Town to work towards tolerance and understanding.
The phrase 'inter faith' came alive as the procession wound its way along the streets of Cape Town. Perspectives were shared, new friends were made and people learned about each other's beliefs.
Some marched under banners, chanting and singing...
Others shared some words and smiles.
Many of the participants wore red ribbons to show their support for the struggle to combat AIDS.
