Ohrid - Moj Roden Kraj?
Don't I wish!
There is a popular traditional song in Macedonia titled "Bitola, Moj Roden Kraj", which loosely translated means "my birthplace." I've not been to Bitola [yet], but MY choice would be Ohrid.

Ohrid - The Town
The town nestles along the lake and spreads up the hills to the Samuel Fortress [below]and Sveti Climent.
Sveti Jovan Kaneo
Sveti Jovan Kaneo is best known as the church that appears in the film Before the Rain. It is situated a short [uphill] walk from the center of Ohrid and occupies a bluff that commands sweeping view of the lake.
In three visits to Kaneo, the woman who is the caretaker/guide and I have become friends. She always offers me rakija - the Macedonian version of plum brandy. [note: rakija without food is dangerous!] And now that I speak some Macedonian we converse about simple matters - or should I say we converse simply?
The Moods of Ohrid Lake
The view below was taken from Sveti Naum near the border with Albania. The source of the lake lies between Sveti Naum and the lovely swimming beaches.
