The last 31 days of the Millennium

Cambodia

Sunset on the banks of the Mekong at the Palace.

Wednesday 29 - We went to the National Museum and got some great sunset photos. The Central market was also good as I picked up a pair of Old Navy pants for $4. Many time the factories that produce over here do overruns or have quality issues which require them to unload the products on the locals. These black-market goods make their way through the markets with little regard to their costly western labels.  Another case is the clothing donation programs of the west. You know the ones, "Help the poor, give us your old clothes" Well a good deal of that has made it's way to Cambodia. I believe a good deal of it makes it's way into the wrong hands her, either by low cost buy backs or through ever present corruption. The used clothing is sold in bales to the sellers who take what ever they get. You can tell people did not plan all that well cause of the sweaters and snow boots sent along as well.
