The last 31 days of the Millennium

Dec 28

Tuesday - 28 Dec 1999
Thailand

This luxury family vehicle seats 6.

Tuesday 28 - Most everyone that comes to Cambodia knows two things they must see. One is obviously Angkor Wat, and the other is the Killing Fields. Piling on a single motorcycle with our Thai speaking guide, we made our first stop at S-21 or Toul Sleng Museum. Originally classrooms, Pol Pot and cronies turned the complex into a mass jail and torture chamber. Over 1million Cambodians were killed in the 1976 genocide led by Pol Pot. This school was one of the main centers for interrogation and torture. After this we went about 12 km out of the city to Choeung Ek, the site of the mass graves. A pagoda has been built there to hold over 8,000 skulls and bones found there. Graves the size of a truck held over 100 bodies. Also visited: Street 70 Evening Corn and hammocks Thai Consulate Russian Market The Capital Happy Herb's Martini bar.
