Iron Horse

Thursday - 10 Jun 1999
Canyonlands , Utah - U. S. A.

Today we set out to Hardscrabble Camp.

Our truck was a real trooper. It hauled all our gear and negotiated all the rough roads. We used the 4-wheel drive many times today. Especially when coming over Bighorn Butte.

High in the Saddle

Brad and Dave got to drive most of the 25 miles we covered. They both did great.

Turk's Head

This butte is across the Green River. I camped just down river when I floated the Green last fall.

Don't step on the Crack

This crack in the White Rim Sandstone was over 200 feet deep. It took a dropped stone 4 seconds to hit bottom.

Hardscrabble Camp

We camped by the river tonight. We took a nice dip to cool off. The weather was great - again.

Burritos and fruit for dinner.
