Fish River Canyon

Monday - 22 Nov 2004
Namibia

Fish River Canyon measures 160 km in length, up to 27 km wide, and 550 m deep. They say it is second in size only to the Grand Canyon. It actually looks like a mini Grand Canyon without the colours! It is still very spectacular though! You are no longer permitted to hike down on day trips and must register for multiday hikes. A tourist was left down there by mistake and broke his leg. Legend says that he was found dead from the heat & lack of water.

The long road back. Rick & Ben and the Big Red Truck!
