I haven't posted in this journal for a few weeks now. The last entry was about Tequisquiapan! Well, things have happened around town for me in Querétaro, but I don't have any pictures. Things of note: I have learned some Cumbia dance steps, and I drank in a Mexican Cantina.

I will probably go to the Cantina de los Remedios again before I leave, and next time I'll try to remember to bring my camera. It was the most "Mexican" place I have been so far. There are Mexican sayings painted on the wall (I can't remember any right now) a Mariachi band AND a Ranchero Trio, a huge wall filled with bottles of Tequila- the only thing that made it not a completely authentic cantina were 2 things- women were allowed inside, and a bunch of gringos were there! But we were with some mexican friends. I went with a big group. The countries represented at our table were USA, Mexico, England, Ireland, Switzerland, and Austrailia.

Today I started a new class in the morning. After that I hung around PLI to download the pictures from my camera and burn them onto a CD. Next, I went to the bus terminal to buy my ticket to Mazatlan! I'm leaving next Saturday evening. The trip is 12 hours and it goes overnight. At this point, I still don't have a hotel set up for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. I'm starting to get worried about that.

I was considering giving a running commentary like I did on the Tequisquiapan page. But I think the pictures will tell the story on their own, after a brief introduction.

It was a very hot day. The group is the same as the one who went to Tequis, with the addition of Hession, the blonde in the red shirt. Hession is from Oakland, California. She had just arrived in Mexico a few days before we all took this day trip to San Miguel.

My favorite pic is the second in our series of "bench tour" photos. You will notice that every one of us is holding an ice cream cone, with the exception of Allistair, who is holding two- one is his and one is mine, because I needed my hands free to take the picture. After tasting the "queso" ice cream, we all opted for mango flavor.

In closing, let me say that Metallica songs don't sound very good on an out-of-tune Mariachi guitar. At least the kid wasn't trying to ask for tips. Enjoy the photos!
