Although i was born and raised in Los Angeles my memory was a bit foggy after being up in Idaho for over 25 years, so i went to the library and got some books about L.A., and I actually found some surprisingly good ones: Hidden Southern California by Ray Riegert, Translating LA by Peter Theroux, LA Lost and Found, an Architectural History of Los Angeles, by Sam Kaplan, and Los Angeles, a Lonely Planet City Guide, by John Gottberg.
