My old neighborhood

We toured my old high school, Torrance High, a site of filming for “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. In the show, Buffy lives in my friend’s old house at 1313 Cota St. in downtown Torrance. I showed the girls various houses where i used to live, boulevards we used to cruise, beach spots we used to hang out at, etc. Did a little shopping on Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach.

Drove and drove and drove and drove and drove. Felt like i was drifting in a dream. Tried to recognize things, but the fields had been filled in with buildings, while other things had been torn down and replaced with newer, more expensive and/or less tasteful things.

Eat at Rudy’s

Thursday we met with my old high school buddy Joy, whom i hadn’t seen for nearly 23 years. Joy buys and sells antiques and collectibles. We did the same things that we used to do which was drive around and look at stuff, and eat. It felt totally comfortable. It poured rain for most of the day. She took us for breakfast at a little cafe in downtown Torrance called “Eat at Rudy’s” and i recommend it highly! Rudy is a gifted chef, everything is made fresh and is delicious and the waitresses are totally sharp and nice.
