Granada - Nicaragua

Peder and I, inside the test house

By a coincidence, we met Peder from Denmark, who has been living in Nicaragua for 4 years. He has started some wonderful projects in Granada. One of them is a community for poor people. Peder is financing the houses and the people in the protected village will all be working and paying rent. Dieter and I went with Peder and saw a test house for the village. The essential thing about the house is the concrete floor. Normally people will have a dirt floor. When sweeping a dirt floor you will get many dust particles in your lungs, which cause respiratory problems, which is a huge problem in Nicaragua.

At the Carita Feliz School

Another project is a school with 1500 children. It actually started out with Peder feeding the children of Granada and that turned into a school. However, the school is much more, than making sure; the children are not hungry.

The children will learn all sorts of skills, which they can use for later jobs. Among them are, computer lessons, healthcare, cooking, guitar, hairdresser, dance, sport, sewing and crocheting. All the children will receive a report card, exactly as most children will get in their school years.

The computer class

School is also for the youngest
