Meet the fam...

When we arrived at the school, our homestay dad met us there to pick us up and take us to the house. Jorge~He was the sweetest, cutest, little man ever. And I don't mean to be a pervert when I say, he was hot for his age...Anyway, he was one of those people who has a contagious smile and a great sense of humor. Dad was a teacher at our school so he was very patient with our spanish. Mom, Olga, was your average supermom. She woke up around 6 every day, made us breakfast, cleaned the house, went to work at a jade shop, came home, made us lunch, cleaned the guest rooms, walked back to work, came home again and made dinner, then cleaned up from the meals that day. Did I mention that she spoke 5 different laguages too? Yea...she's my hero. Anyway other than them there were 3 kids, the oldest wasn't around much. The only time we ever saw him was when we came home from partying late at night and he was making out with his girlfriend outside the house. That musta been a tradition for them cuz 9/10 times thats what they were doin around 1am. The other two kids were Jorge Jr and Laura who were 16 and 14. I think the were scared of us or sumthing because they rarely talked when we were around. Nonetheless, everyone was great and we were happy about it.

The French Canadian Wonder...

Paulette, or Frenchie as we like to call her arrived at the house the day after us. She was stayin in the adjacent room. Frenchie was by far the most awesum french canadian Ive ever met. She had the tendency to combine english, french, and spanish into one sentence which made for interesting dinner conversations. Shes the only person I know who would actually get a tattoo in south africa. But that's just the kinda crazy girl she was. She had been around the world and she was fearless. Ok well, maybe not fearless, but brave. Frenchie was sick most of her time in Guate. Believe me, I know this because we shared a bathroom with her, not to mention she talked about it incesently but she didn't let it get her down...She just kept eatin prunes and fibercon pills five times a day. A Trooper-Thats frenchie! She grew to be like a family member to us. I don't know what you'd call her...to wild to be your mother but to "know it all" to be a sibling. She sure did love us though and of course she wants us to come visit her in Quebec someday, maybe learn some french. I bet it would be a blast!~I can only imagine what her kids are like...Anyway the last night frenchie was in town Kdawg and I took her out to dessert at a lil place called Dish. It was cute I got this chocolate moose thing which was awesum and Frenchie told us all kinda stories. Thats probably the first and last time I'll take a 55 year old French Canadian woman to get desert. I love stuff like that...stuff that you know you will never do again. There was a lot of that on this trip...It feels good to accomplish goals.
