The amount of activities you can do in Egypt is staggering. Most of the trips give people the flexibility to follow thier interests and as a leader you have the ability to influence where they go and what they do. Many activities are included in the tours and therefore i am paid for, but many of the other activites are optional and therefore theoretically i have to pay for my self. However, normally if you take your groups to places often enough then they will let you take part for free. This is why building good relationships with the locals is essential, apart from the fact that it is a major reason for travelling and understanding the country.
For instance I am able to go riding for free whenever i am in Cairo because i have got to know the owner of the stables, something i hope to do as much as possible.
Diving is a little more complicated and i have to cover most of the costs myself but then again it is an opportunity that i want to take advantage of while i am here and hopefully I will build up to rescue diver level at some stage. Also i only have to pay for equipment hire as i am already trained and the boat is paid for so bargain really!
