While our daughter is in Tuscany on her second honeymoon as I write this, I'm already longing for Guatemala where Steve and I were married in 1974 just as the rainy season was beginning.

Originally, we were to be married in the outdoor chapel, not too far from our future new home, our treehouse.

It took us 30 years to return for our second honeymoon.

We were eager to discover if our first home still existed in the trees on the hill...

Because of the threatening rain our outdoor wedding plans quickly changed, so we moved to the church.

We almost didn't find the church in Santa Lucia, Milpas Altas, Guatemala where we were married.

After several passes through the town, we decided to check out an obscure path I spotted earlier. Like the rabbit Alice saw scurrying down a hole only to disappear, we disappeared into the place where many a dream has taken me.

The dusty path turned out to be a dirt road and we quickly discovered it was navigable. The highway, town and people gradually disappeared, as we ourselves did. We held our breath and slowly, carefully pushed on with our search.

We found the church.
