Arusha to Dar es Salaam - Tanzania

On the Road Again

We took a 6 a.m. bus from Arusha to Tanzania's capital, Dar es Salaam. We travelled the main highway between the 2 cities, descending about 5300 feet to sea level. The cool mountain air became hot, humid and tropical. Along the way, we saw small villages where people lived in huts made of sticks, stones and mud or dung. People make a living cattle grazing and farming. We stopped at Korogwe for a quick bite. Oranges seemed to be the mainstay of that village. In Dar es Salaam, our bus 'hostess' arranged for a taxi to take us to the ferry docks. There we boarded the Sea Bus and arrived in Zanzibar's Stone Town 2 hours later.
