San Francisco , California - U. S. A.

SF-MOMA from Yerba Buena Gradens

SF-MOMA

The SF Museum of Modern Art is an obligatory stop for us even if there isn't any special exhibition. It is one of the best examples of postmodern architecture around, and an anchor of the SoMa redevelopment, which has turned a formerly seedy area into a hip, happening place.

The heart of San Francisco's Chinatown!

Two icons: A street sign in Chinese and the Buena Vista Cafe where Irish Coffee was allegedly invented. Of course we had to stop in to fortify ourselves for the cable car ride to Market St!

Another view of the bay from the Marina District

We ran across this drumming ceremony at the Japan Center. This complex was designed by the famous Japanese architect, Minoru Yamasaki. The folks with the sticks were kneading dough -- whether for bread or noodles wasn't clear.
