Intro
We had initially only planned to spend 1 week in Vietnam, but after talking to other backpackers, we decided to extend our stay to 2 weeks. In hindsight it turned out to be a good decision. We made a mad dash from the Mekong Delta in the south all the way up to Halong Bay in the north, covering almost 1600km in only 14 days. To break up the trip we stopped at a number of towns and cities along the way and got a chance to experience an amazing country that is on the cusp of modernity.
