JEN COOKING SOME MYSTERY FOOD

We returned to KL from Penang in the afternoon of Sunday, Nov 10. We called Dave who arranged for us to return to the hotel Malaya. We checked in and went for a walk around the night market. That night we bought some cheap essentials (sunglasses, t-shirts) and went for a Chinese dinner, where we got a chance to cook the food ourselves right at our table. While the experience was neat, the food was mediocre.

SAYING GOODBYE (probaby forever) TO OUR PACKAGE

The next day Dave picked us up from the hotel and brought us to the post office, so that we could mail our stuff back home. After 1 1/2 hours of packing (and a little prayer) we sent our stuff. Afterwards Dave dropped us off in the Golden Triangle Area, which is a posh area of hotels and stores. We walked around a bit and went to visit STA travel to see about airfares for Australia and New Zealand. Unfortunately STA could not do much for us, so we walked around some more, had some lunch (Hurray for Kenny Rogers Chicken) and planned our agenda for Australia. We then got prepared to go out for dinner with Dave and Gauri, but unfortunately Dave got caught up and had to cancel at the last minute. We ended the night by grabbing a quick bite and walking around the night market.

The next morning we got up, packed, and did some internet. Dave and Guari picked us up at 12 and took us out to eat traditional Indian food on a banana leaf. Jen and I got right into the custom by tossing aside our knife and fork and eating the entire meal with our hands (actually only the right hand). Sauce is poured over the rice to make it sticky and easy to lift to your mouth. The whole thing was a bit of an adjustment at first, but we got right into it (literally) and had a good time. Afterwards we went back to Davé's office and he helped us book our Australia/ New Zealand ticket at a great price. Dave and Guari said goodbye to us at 5pm and we were sad to see them go. They had been so nice to us it was increadible. We then grabbed a bus to the airport and said our final goodbye to SouthEast Asia. Our last 6 weeks were to be spent in Australia and New Zealand.
