Kuta Bombing Monument

Kuta

Our first stop in Bali was in Kuta. Kuta is known for it’s beaches and shopping and attracts many tourists, especially Australians. This was the area that was terrorized in October 2002 by 2 bombs that hit two large nightclubs across the main drag.

This beautiful monument lists all the countries affected and is a monument to Peace. The areas of ‘ground zero’ are also corded off for a place of worship & remembrance. The Balinese were hit very hard by the loss of tourism money. Only now are the tourists slowly starting to come back. We were glad to be part of the regrowth.
