The graceful dolphins

OK. I have a lot of favorit animals - Actually I can't really think of an animal that I don't like..... BUT the dolphins or maybe I should say the whales, are absolutely some of the top score......

_____

OK.

Graceful and elegant

Actually dolphins are toothed whales and although they are not as big as the large whales, their brains are more developed. We all know Flipper and how easy it is to teach dolphins all sorts of tricks. Then you can sit down and think about IF we should learn them these tricks? And why?

_____

Because it's so dark underwater, whales and dolphins can't rely on their eyesight. Instead they are using something called echolocation. They are using sound to help them find their way and to hunt, by sending out sound waves, which bounce off other objects. If a whale or a dolphin detects an echo, it knows that something is in the way.

_____

On this tour we went with Ocean Safari and it was a great boat ride!!!

I would really have liked to see some whales, unfortunately we didn't, because it was out of season, but we got the chance to see so many Bottlenose dolphins and a couple of Common dolphins.

_____

There were about 800 sealions in this colony, which were at Robberg Island just outside of Plettenberg Bay.

_____

The female sealions are migrating with the anchovies and then returning to the island in the mating-season.

_____

Hun søløverne følger ansjoserne, men vender tilbage til øen i parrings tiden tiden.
