Stonehenge - England

Stonehenge, near Salisbury, is about a two hour drive west of London on the 303. It is a sandstone monument built on a site that for nearly 5000 years (!) was used for ceremonial or religious purposes. Around 4000 years ago (2000 years before the arrival of the Druids, so they couldn't have built it) the large rocks were transported and levered into a semi circle of upright pairs capped by lintels. Many theories abound regarding its origin and use. The very precise design of Stonehenge lines up with the sun on the sunrise of the summer solstice. This proves that the builders had an understanding of the phases of the sun and used this knowledge to create a simple and very, very heavy calendar. It was cloudy when Bud was there.
