Fraser Island

The Kiwis couldnt wait to get to Fraser Island. Four wheel driving is one attraction on the worlds largest sand island.

we ended up doing it on this (4-wd) bus.

This one is harmless, but there were tons of small Portugese Man-O-War. Their "sails", small top fin is developed for dispersal by wind, but their tentacles had not grown yet in the individuals swept up on the beach. They make quite a pop when you stomp on them. Considered exceptionally dangerous in the US waters, Aussies scoff at the danger compared with Blue Bottles that kill 70 people a year and Irikanji the newest threat.

The only safe place to swim

Fraser Island, the only safe place to swim is a little fresh water creek crowded with tourists. But it is fun being carried downstream by the current like a water rat.
