Ecuador

The Streets are very busy in Quito, the drivers are crazy, crazy crazy. There is no indication, and pedestrians cross the roads whenever they feel like it. For me it is very difficult because i keep forgetting about them driving on the right (wrong) hand side. I am always looking in the wrong direction.

The polution was bad in Old Town

These are my Volunteer friends, we have all been to Maquipucuna at some time. This is my one and only visit to the 'historic' part of Quito. The streets are so tiny, and the buses in such bad condition that we were forced to use scented tissues to help us breathe. We also went to the Plaza outside the Government, 'presidents palace' where two seperate demonstrations were taking place. Apparently they happen all the time. The officers came outside occasionaly to joke and laugh at the protesters, while a wall of policemen stopped anyone from getting too close.
