Orange River

Thursday - 25 Nov 2004
Orange River , Western Cape - South Africa

Orange River is just over the border from Namibia and a beautiful farming area. We declined the opportunity to ‘canoe’ down the river when we found out that the ‘canoe’ was actually a large rubber dinghy! Instead we relaxed in the shade by the river & swam with a group of local children who delighted in splashing Janet as she ventured slowly in to the cold.

We explored this beautiful farm as we walked down the road to the only local store in the area for ice cream - twice! We also met the farmer who invited us to pick fresh figs from his garden. They were most delightful and quite a surprise to see in their original form!
